Why is Joel Coen Missing in Lights, Camera, And Action?

Image
Okay, he's obviously a gigantically talented film director and writer, however he has not released a film since The Ballad of Buster Scruggs in 2018 credited alongside his brother Ethan Coen. How he's been missed as well.  Comparison to Ethan Coen Ethan Coen has however released a slew of films since 2018 in  Drive Away Dolls ,  Honey Don't  and  Jerry Lee Lewis: Trouble in Mind . The last few collaborations between the two brothers have felt, in the humble opinion of the author, a bit forced. Does this mean there was a happening between films?  A hot take on the Coen Brothers Bridge of Spies was a Steven Spielberg film from 2015 where both are credited as writers on. That aside, the films in the span between 2007 to 2021 have been less successful than what went before. That is the  No Country for Old Men to  Blood Simple years; when the people valued Coen films.  7 Coen Films that reduce the Hollywood capital built by the Coen Brothers...

From Masterplan To Masterclass: How Oasis Monetised Their Fans' Loyalty

Image
In the wake of the recent iconic Oasis gigs I wanted to help end the fruitless and hackneyed speculation about how famous music bands generate profit via the revenue streams they have. I’ve sat through enough conversations about ticket prices to serve a lifetime’s need. How Do Bands Like Oasis Really Make Their Money? For a band like Oasis, they have more revenue streams than most famous bands. Whether it is collabs with clothing brands for the merchandise, tickets to live performances, dynamic pricing on tickets, promotional tie-ins or music streaming royalties; Oasis Corp has a finger in many pies. Decades Later, Oasis Still Chart Well Take for instance the hardest aspect of working in music – songwriting. Oasis has written a lot of top tunes. “Wonderwall” has been covered over 100 times, most notably by Ryan Adams, Cat Power, LeAnne Rimes and Brad Mehldau Trio. Indeed, Oasis wouldn’t have the audience Oasis commands without the back catalogue of anthems like Wonderwall...

Chrome DevTools Just Got Better: Use Live Metrics & AI to Tame Web Performance

Image
For those who have ever wondered about the performance of a webpage, I attended Google I/O and have shared the details in this post. Firstly, I have often been put off using chrome developer tools for performance because of the intimidating set up whereby chrome developer tool records the loading of a webpage and then provides what is called a performance trace, as shown in screenshot. Nerds may love this, but this induces many including myself into having a thousand-yard stare. Analysis required a degree in computer science that is absent here and for most. Alternative to chrome developer tools: webpagetest.org Instead, I personally used https://www.webpagetest.org/ for situations where analysis was needed on these types of projects and avoided using lighthouse and indeed interacting with chrome developer tools to a large degree. The webpagetest tool provided screenshots and video captured as the page loads, page performance and core web vitals information for the page. All...

How video impact is reducing in the era of AI

Image
Did you ever watch a video and wish you had spent the time more wisely? Recently I, much like others, have had my eyeballs inundated with hundreds of AI-generated videos. The sources of such videos have ranged from the President of the USA to peers, but the value instilled by AI has been nonetheless the same: none. Not to mention a lingering feeling of annoyance. Take, for instance, the celebrity-imitating babies rapping or singing songs, acting out famous movie scenes, being talking heads on iconic sports interviews and guesting on podcasts telling jokes. Sure, these videos can lead to likes, but are short-lived, even by the standard of instant gratification which permeates now. A video posted on a public forum can have arrived at and surpassed virality and still be worthless, in my humble opinion. The effect of how video is used and by whom When the Presidential seal is on a video celebrating hostile occupation of foreign land, the credibility that President...

No hangover? No problem: The rise and rise of non-alcoholic beer

Image
Non-alcoholic beer has been projected to overtake ale as the second largest beer category worldwide behind larger. Who exactly drinks non-alcoholic beers? While several generations of staunch stout drinkers exist in pubs across the land, there is more and more demand for non-alcohol and low-alcohol products. This demand is generally coming from new millennials (zillennials) who were born between 1992 and 1998. Often cited, according to research by IWSR, a beer industry gauge, is moderation of alcohol intake and outright abstaining from alcohol. Buzzwords in the research are “sober curious” and “damp lifestyle”. Whatever it is, alcoholic ales seem to be making way for non-alcohol products instead. Just now, I have wine with alcohol removed, beer and non-alcohol empties in the house. This seems to be reflective of the shifts and new trends when it comes to drinking. How is the rise of non-alcoholic beer manifesting itself? Returning to the research, non-alcohol beverages ...
